An Amateur MX Racing Tutorial:
If you are going to race with us on a regular amateur motocross race day (i.e., not a Pro National, Loretta Lynn Qualifier or Regional, ATVA National or other special event), here is some general information you may find helpful:
1. |
Our events are sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (“AMA”) and the PAMX Racing Association (select events). AMA and PAMX Rules apply to all events. Please familiarize yourself with these rules prior to the event.
2. |
When you enter the facility, and again when you register, you will be required to sign legal releases and agree that you will not sue the AMA or the organizer, and at each event you will be required to sign statements releasing the AMA and the organizer from any liability or indemnity.
3. |
If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must accompany you to registration. A ‘legal guardian’ is a person appointed by the court as your guardian - it is not a friend that brings you to the races. Your parent can assign a temporary legal guardian to bring you to the races. However, a letter from the parent designating the temporary legal guardian and a notarized release form are required.
Click HERE to download the minor release form.
4. |
All Riders are required to have a current AMA membership. AMA memberships cost $39, are good for one year, and can be purchased at registration.
5. |
For Sunday Creek: If you live in the District 11 area (Southern Ohio), you are also required to be a current member of AMA District 11. District 11 memberships are $16, are good through December 31, and are available at registration.
6. |
If you are participating in the various PAMX series events such as thePAMX Thor Spring Championship Series, thePAMX Team Green Dealers PA State Championship Series, or the PAMX ATV Regional Championship for contingencies and other series awards, you must also have a PAMX card. PAMX Racing Association memberships are $20, are good through December 31, and are available at registration.
7. |
All participants must wear a protective helmet, eye protection, gloves, a long-sleeve shirt, protective pants and boots that are at least eight inches high.
8. |
(If you race ATVs) - ATVs must have a tether kill switch and nerf bars.
9. |
We do not have Rider Medical Insurance, and urge you not to race without it. Riders are responsible for their own medical insurance. Rider medical insurance is available through the AMA’s ARMOR Program at (800)-556-7614 or see www.insurance4ama.com.
10. |
Tentative Practice Schedule:
Updated schedule coming soon.
11. |
We race a two-moto format. Results from your two races (motos) are combined and compared to the moto results of your competitors, to arrive at an overall race result.
12. |
Our starting gates hold 40 riders. If we get more than 40 riders in a class, we will run separate divisions of the same class, without qualifiers. (Excluding Loretta Lynn Qualifiers and Regionals)
13. |
Awards are given at the rate of one per three riders, up to 7 in each class. Money classes are: 125 A, 250 A, Vet A and Senior A. Money class payback is 100% of rider entry fees.
14. |
All results will be posted at Rider Registration.
15. |
Race bikes can be ridden at a walking pace to and from your moto only. Otherwise, there is No Pit Riding.
16. |
We appreciate if you keep a clean pit area, and clean up after yourself. Garbage bags are available at Rider Registration and at the front gate.
17. |
We have food concessions available, but feel free to pack a lunch.
18. |
If you need handicapped parking accommodations or have other special needs, let us know.
19. |
Unfortunately, sometimes due to inclement weather we have to cancel an event. If it looks like bad weather (really bad weather), please call ahead of time to make sure the event is still a go! Of course, we race in the rain too, just not in monsoons.
